Education in Kuwait part 2

This post is what happened after my previous post

This part is only about what happened with gust university…

March 2012, I went to gust to ask them about the credit transfer for Box Hill student. April 2012, they told me that they transfer 27 credits. Meaning I’m not getting a scholarship, which is fine as long as I don’t have to retake the subject I finished. So, they are willing to accept me as a student for computer science major.
Late May 2012, they called me again to take the placement test. I took the test on June 2012. I didn’t do well which was totally my fault, so I asked to retake the test and they said that I could not. We’re now in July 2012, I get called again to complete my papers and become a gust student. I went there with all the papers and paid.

So it’s all good right?

August 30, 2012… At 12 in the afternoon, I received a call from gust. They said that they are now taking more credits and I can apply for a scholarship. The reason I know the exact time of that call is because I was just back from box hill with my graduation gown.

So it’s good news and all…

September 2nd, 2012 11:16 am, I’m waiting at gust… 2:55 pm, they speak with me and tell me that the scholarship is for MIS major not computer science. They ask me to come the next day to see if the scholarship is possible for computer science. September 3rd, 2012 9:00 am, i’m there. then they tell me that they cancelled all the credits for computer science major. Meaning I have to do 4 years of university. Even though I was already registered as a student there… They gave me my number and username. And now this?

Facts:
– There is no way in hell I’m majoring in MIS. 🙂

I would love to know what you guys have to suggest or say…

  1. Study abroad?
Or take a semester abroad and complete the remaining units as a distance / external student?
That’s what the woman at the ministry told me. But I went ahead and studied through distance from the very beginning which means my degree may not be recognized here at least though my uni has confirmed that I am a registered student. Boo social anxiety. 😦

I was still able to look for a job though. I went to the labor dept… Had to wait for a long while but got a job with a good company.

  2. Well what can I say this is Kuwait and this situation is very common here , and yes I really do know that it’s sad.
