Summary:

“Opportunities won’t wait for you to be ready.” – Aria Kanzaki

In the world of Hidan no Aria AA, there are special students called Butei who are authorized to carry weapons, investigate crimes and solve various incidents. One of the best of these students is an S-rank second year at Tokyo Butei High School named Aria Kanzaki. On the opposite end of the scale is E-rank first year named Akari Mamiya.

Akari absolutely idolizes Aria and wants to become an elite Butei just like her but sadly she just isn’t very good and constantly fails her rank exams. One day she gets the bright idea to submit a request to become Aria’s Amica (assistant), despite her friends telling her that she shouldn’t even bother due to the disparity in their skills. Surprisingly though, Aria decides to give Akari a test, which she not only accepts, but passes!

It won’t be easy for Akari though, as before she can officially become Aria’s Amica she’ll have to work hard until she proves her value. Will Akari’s dream ever come true or will she be forced to give up before she even has a chance to get started, and can Aria help this E-rank girl go from zero to hero?

Hidan no Aria AA

Review:

Hidan no Aria AA is a side story of Hidan no Aria. If you’ve watched the original anime you’re familiar with the fact that they are in an academy training to become world class Butei. This anime is about the underclass mates. One of the underclass mate looks up to Aria and is aiming to train under her. That’s the main plot though the anime also focus on other characters and their involvement mostly in Akira’s life. The anime is quite Moe yet surprisingly dark. Also Hidan no Aria AA is not as cheerful as other moe anime… its quite depressing at times. Which is exactly why I liked the anime.

There is also the fact that the anime is Shoujo Ai its pretty gay in more ways than one. Though there is only one legit couple in the series. This is the relationship chart:

So this is a warning for those that are not comfortable with Shoujo Ai. If you have already watched the original anime aka the Harem version :P. I urge you to check this one out, Its just as good as the original anime with a Shoujo Ai bonus.

Overall Rate: 8/10
